IN Nasarawa: APC wins Rep. seat in re-run election

According to INEC, Sarki-Dahiru scored 74,892 votes to beat Joseph Kigbu of the People’s Democratic Party and incumbent, who got 70,302 votes.

The All Progressives Congress’ Abubakar Sarki-Dahiru, has been declared winner of the House of Representatives seat in the Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency in the Nasarawa State election re-run.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Uji Francis, announced the results in Lafia on Sunday, April 19.
According to him, Sarki-Dahiru scored 74,892 votes to beat Joseph Kigbu of the People’s Democratic Party and incumbent, who got 70,302 votes.
Abubakar Sarki Dahiru of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law and scoring the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Francis said.
He also said Nurudeen Mohammed of All Progressive Grand Alliance got 1,419 votes while Jonathan Dogo of the Peoples Democratic Movement polled 760 votes.
The total number of registered voters accredited at the constituency was put at 285,728 while 154, while total votes cast was 150, 792.
He added that 3,208 votes were rejected.
