According to the Market Master, Chief Obogo Alapa, coal pot stove and fuel containers might have caused the inferno.
Punch reports that the fire, which started about 6.30pm on
Thursday, April 16, at the cosmetics and
fish section of the market, lasted for over four hours.
Shop owners reportedly scampered for safety of their wares
as the fire wreaked havoc in the market, leaving over 120 shops burnt.
According to the Market Master, Chief Obogo Alapa, coal pot
stove and fuel containers might have caused the inferno.
The incident makes it the fifth time the market will be
gutted by fire.
