Why Jonathan will not choose INEC Chairman’s replacement

Jega’s tenure is expected to end on June 30 and the INEC Chairman has said that he isn’t interested in a renewal.

President Goodluck Jonathan will reportedly not be appointing a replacement for Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Attahiru Jega before vacating office on May 29, 2015.
Jega’s tenure is expected to end on June 30 and the INEC Chairman has said that he isn’t interested in a renewal.
Jonathan will not appoint Jega’s successor before leaving office because the President doesn’t see the need to “hurriedly appoint another INEC chairman.”
This was disclosed to Punch by an official of the Presidency on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.
Before the conduct of the March 28 and April 11 general elections, rumours had it that a successor had already been chosen for Jega who was reportedly not in the Presidency’s good books.
Both Jega and Jonathan however denied the reports
