Aside engineering graduates who apply to work as field engineers for oil
and gas firms, graduate accountants, doctors, and ICT personnel all
apply for jobs in the appropriate departments of these firms.
Every year, several thousands of fresh graduates are "unleashed" by Nigerian tertiary institutions into the country's tight labour market. Despite the dearth of jobs, Nigerian graduates have their eyes on certain jobs due to the juicy remunerations offered by these jobs.

The oil and gas jobs top the list of most
sought-after jobs in Nigeria. Aside engineering graduates who apply to
work as field engineers for oil and gas firms, graduate accountants,
doctors, and ICT personnel all apply for jobs in the appropriate
departments of these firms. This is expected, since oil and gas firms
pay very fat salaries, with some offering over N500,000 per month to
entry level graduates.
Multinational manufacturing
firms are next on the list of most sought after employers in Nigeria.
Though they pay less than oil and gas firms, they still offer attractive
pay packages.
Federal government jobs are also
widely sought after by Nigerian job seekers. These jobs are not as
attractive as many private sector offers in terms of pay, but they
provide 100 percent job security in most cases, plus attractive
allowances.
